Friends of the Certosa di Capri is an international association of charitable organisations dedicated to the restoration, preservation and support of the Certosa di San Giacomo and its programmes. The activities of the Friends member organisations are coordinated by an international committee chaired by Fawn Wilson White, International Chairman. |

International Chairman Fawn Wilson White, a resident of London, is International Chairman of the Friends and also serves as Chairman of the U.K. and U.S. Friends. With a long and active career in the non-profit sector in Canada, the U.S. and U.K., she is the former President of the Royal Conservatory of Music Foundation (USA), a founding Trustee of the Royal Conservatory of Music UK Foundation and a Trustee of the Maple Leaf Trust, London. She was Founding Chairman of the International Advisory Board of Opera New Brunswick, Canada, Founding Co-Chairman of Project Cicero, a major New York book and literacy programme, a former Trustee of International Pen Foundation London, a former Trustee of The New York Society Library of New York, International Chairman of the MusicaRussia Foundation and Founding Chairman of the International Artistic and Advisory Council of the Esther Honens International Piano Competition, Canada. |

In the United Kingdom, Friends of the Certosa di Capri has been registered as Charity No. 1114136 and as Private Limited Company No. 5614661 in England and Wales. As such, the organisation is eligible for the U.K. Gift Aid Programme and able to accept charitable donations from U.K. citizens and residents that are tax-advantaged to the extent permitted by U.K. law. President of the U.S. Friends John T. Dunlap, a resident of New York, is President of the U.S. Friends. Senior partner in the New York law firm of Dunnington, Bartholow & Miller LLP, he is a member of the firm’s corporate , immigration and not-for-profit, religious & charitable institutions practice groups. Fluent in French, Spanish and Italian, Mr. Dunlap advises U.S., Canadian and international corporations and several foreign governments. In addition to serving on several Bar Association committees, he is Legal Advisor to the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations; President Emeritus of the Canadian Club of New York; Vice-President of the Royal Conservatory of Music Foundation; Trustee, John Cabot University, Rome, Italy; and Member of the Sovereign Counsel of the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta, Rome. He is Regent of the Sub Priory of Our Lady of Lourdes, North America. |

In Germany, the Friends of the Certosa di Capri have established a German Committee chaired by Dr. Stefanie Sonnentag of Capri and Naples, Italy. President of the Italian Friends Prof. Renato Bossa, a resident of Naples, is President of the Italian Friends. Born in Naples, he received his Doctorate in Musicological Research in 1987. Since 1977 he has held the Chair of the History of Music at the National Academy of Dance in Rome. His extensive writings include articles in scientific journals, various books and exhibition catalogues. For many years he has worked with RAI-Radiotre presenting programmes including Concerto del Mattino, Pomeriggio musicale, Radio3 suite and Il terzo anello. For many years he was the Artistic Director of the Alessandro Scarlatti Association of Naples and he currently acts as consultant to the Association.
President of the Canadian Friends Dr. Carla Bonora Cianciaruso, a resident of Ottawa, Canada, is President of the Canadian Friends. A journalist by profession, she writes as a correspondent for Il Corriere Canadese, Canada’s only Italian language daily newspaper. A native of Naples, she studied History and Philosophy at the University of Naples and started her career in the field of communications at the European Commission in Brussels. For many years she worked as a journalist for the Italian newspaper Il Mattino, published in Naples. Proficient in English and French, she has a wealth of experience in organising international events. She spends summer and winter holidays on Capri, where her family has a home.
President of the German Friends Dr. Stefanie Sonnentag, a resident of Capri, is President of the German Friends. Art historian, author and journalist, she writes for German newspapers and television and publishes mainly in Germany. A member of the Centro Cerio in Capri, whose object is the promotion of activities illustrating the historical, naturalistic and artistic importance of the island, she dedicates herself to researching and documenting the German presence on Capri and the German influence on the history of the island. Her recent book Guida letteraria di Capri was translated into Italian by the Naples publishing house L’Ancora del Mediterraneo. |
